“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” ~Marcel Proust
For many years I thought things brought happiness, and many more I thought success, but I’ve found that it is only people who truly make me happy. Fortunately, I am surrounded by the absolute best people. I don’t garden, but I love a good gardening analogy. Relationships need tending, but the best ones bloom in every season.
I officially started my Yoga Teacher Training! Squee!! I’m just a little excited about it. I’ve tried not to overwhelm my family and friends with all the deep thoughts, cheesy quotes, and yoga pose suggestions, but sometimes it all just spills out. It’s ok, they all love me anyway.
Honestly, I am so, so happy that I started to feel guilty. Is it ok to be this happy? To take this much time for myself? To love what I’m doing this much? I mean if it were anyone else in my circle I would be so excited for them to be so happy, so why not myself?
Upon reflection, I realized I often give grace to others in places I withhold it from myself. That is something I am no longer alright with. I am happy and I love what I’m doing and who I am becoming. I am now committed to giving myself a radical amount of grace and love. It is something that I am having to practice right now, because it’s still not my first reaction. But, it’s getting easier, and man, I am so much happier.
I have some amazing souls in my life right now. People who make my soul bloom. So, if you are happy, be the absolute happiest. You deserve every good thing!
All my love~Erin
Your realization that you give grace to others that you withhold from yourself rings so true. This may be my new mantra! What a blessing you are!
Thank you! I feel the same way about you!
Messed up somehow and my comment didn’t post- but what I said was this is one of the many quotes I love! This is so true. Most all folks have gardeners in our lives, thank God; they are the ones who not only make our hearts smile they help us get through the most of our tough days.
Each of us has different things that make us happy but like you I thrive off the people who bring joy to my life. I think sometimes people forget that friends /family are like vegetables in the garden, they can give us joy to grow and yummy nourishment but we also need to give our “vegetables” nourishment in return.
Hugs!! T
Amen! You are such a gift and I love knowing you and having had so much love and encouragement from you. Thank you for always cheering me on friend.
